Freshwater Lake is one of two lakes in the interior of Dominica, which you can easily reach by foot without a guide. However good shoes are very important as the track can become slippery because of humidity.
The other one is The Boeri Lake.
Having a 4WD you can drive to the Freshwater Lake, but then you will miss a beautifil walk through the tropical rainforest, (don´t forget your rainjacket!). The smell of the wet forest is unforgetable!
Just before Laudat you turn left and after ca 1,5 hours walk you will reach the Freshwater Lake. If you want you can continue walking and after another 1 hour you will get to the Boeri Lake.
