One of the newest natural wonder on Dominica is the Miracle Lake. This lake came into being 1997. The local people also call it  the Holy Lake, because it`s genesis began on  Sunday and went on for seven days. Originally the whole territory was a plateau till this Sunday in May of 1997. In the night a gigantic underground cave began to collapse, the ground level sank for approximately 100 meters and built within the seven days the Miracle Valley which filled with water afterwards. Today`s natural wonder was a catastrophy for the farmer. Nearly all his plantations got damaged within seven days. The conclusion is that the Miracle Valley and Lake are situated on the private property and can only be visited with a permission of the owner. Besides it would be very dangerous to look for the way down to the lake on your own, as the land is still moving and it leads approximately 100 meters down in a very steep and slippy trail. You can ask the owner to guide you down for a fee of 100 EC which is not expensive if you keep in mind that he built the trail with his own hands and it took him weeks. Also he can give you a detailed information about the genesis of the valley and the lake. This trip is not that long as the one to the Boiling Lake but for sure not less exhausting and only possible with dry weather and very good shoes. This fact means however that it will be very hot in the valley, so you MUST take enough water with you for a 3-hours-trip!!! After all you will be rewarded with a cool bath in the beautyful Miracle Lake (just relax and try not to think about the way back) You will find the Miracle Valley in the Layou River Valley on the left hand side behind the Layou River Hotel on the territory of the Bramhall Estate. This way is only managable with a 4WD. You can drive till the sign “ Road closed”, blow the horn several times and wait for the owner. DON`T DRIVE BEHIND THIS SIGN !!!!!! Although the road looks comfortable it ends extremely abrupt and then it goes approximately 100 meters down !!!!
